2023 Orange County Prayer Breakfast

2023 Orange County Prayer Breakfast

Thursday, May 18, 2023 (7:00 AM - 8:30 AM) (EDT)

Description

Following the leadership of the annual National Prayer Breakfast, Vision Orlando announces the annual Orange County Prayer Breakfast.

May 18th, 7:00 am – 8:30 am, Sheraton Orlando North

600 N Lake Destiny Rd, Maitland, FL 32751

During the breakfast, dynamic community leaders will be leading in prayer for the marketplace, arts and entertainment, government, the church, and the family in our region.   Three of these leaders will also briefly share portions of their own story and what they are doing to build bridges of relationship in the community:

The Honorable Alan Lawson, former Florida Supreme Court Justice

Archbishop Allen T.D. Wiggins, Senior Pastor, Hope Church Orlando

Dr. David Uth, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Orlando

Why Is The Orange County Prayer Breakfast Important?

As the people of God, the “ekklesia” in our city, we know that which binds us together, our love for Jesus, is much greater than those things which separate us. So, the Orange County Prayer Breakfast is an opportunity for a wide cross section of the church in our city to come together, in the spirit and name of Jesus, to seek the welfare of our city, and begin to build relationships with one another as we pray together for our city.

Orlando is a vibrant and diverse community. There is so much for which we can be grateful. And God is at work all over our region in magnificent ways.

And yet, the needs in our community are great as well. We have a responsibility to be “salt and light” in our community, and to “seek the welfare of our city.”

We believe that city transformation is not only possible, but it is God’s desire. Transformed cities come from transformed people who are determined to not only love God, but also to love their neighbors -- and even to love their enemies. We believe that this process of “seeking the welfare of the city” starts when each of us begins to build bridges of relationship with one another across cultural, theological, political, racial, and generational lines. This can start with prayer with one another and prayer for one another.

As Jesus prayed “that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You.” John 17:21
